Thanks to your strong grassroots support, Politico has us winning another month! We could not do this without you, let’s keep the momentum going through November!
Via Politico:
An NBC/Marist poll last week showed Democrat Tim Kaine up 6 points over Republican George Allen. The GOP is confident that if Kaine is up, it’s not by a touchdown. But perhaps more worrisome for Republicans are photos of the candidates opening their campaign headquarters. The pictures, obtained by Blue Virginia, show Kaine’s crowd dwarfing Allen’s even though the Republican’s ribbon-cutting occurred later in the cycle and in better weather. More than any other in the country, this race could be tied to presidential winds, and right now, that’s good news for Kaine.

Today I am happy to introduce our next “Volunteer Spotlight” — Lilia Varela!
Lilia is one of the most dedicated volunteers in our Alexandria office. She rides the bus to our office every Tuesday, and we make sure to get her a ride home each week.
Lilia is a veteran volunteer who not only supports Tim Kaine, but has also volunteered for Rep. Jim Moran and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. We look forward to her cheerful demeanor each Tuesday. She is an absolute joy to have around the office!
Take a moment to read Lilia’s story below and sign up to volunteer. We would love to see you in one of our offices across the Commonwealth!
Where do you live in Virginia?
I was born in Panama and came to America in the 1950s at the age of seventeen. I live in Alexandria, and spent more than thirty years working in the administrative section of the Naval Air Systems Command.
Why do you think volunteering is important?
Volunteering is a great way to help others and make a difference. As somebody who loves to learn, I find I learn something new every time I come in.
What is your favorite Virginia landmark/place?
I love to visit Luray Caverns. They are very pretty, and everyone should try to go.
Why do you support Tim Kaine?
I support Tim Kaine because he is honest and optimistic about our future. As Governor, he did a lot for women by protecting our access to health care. He also understands that it is important to inform Latinos of their right to vote. I think Tim Kaine and Anne Holton make a great team and will serve us well in the Senate!
Now that you have read about Lilia, I hope you will take the time to sign up to volunteer on the campaign — you might even meet her on a Tuesday in the Alexandria office! It is folks like you who will make the difference in November!
After you sign up to volunteer, be ready for a phone call. We’ll be in touch within a day or two.
